Chiaki Tougane (東金 千秋 Tōgane Chiaki) is a student at Jinnan High School who plays the electric violin, the son of Genichi Tougane and the childhood friend of Yukihiro Yagisawa.
Appearance[]
Chiaki is a tall tan-skinned teenage boy with short dirty-brown hair that is a bit messy and dark red eyes.
He always wears clothes on the "trendy" side, and sometimes wears the Jinnan high school uniform.
Personality[]
Chiaki has a really blunt personality and says whatever he wants. He often tells Kanade Kohinata that her performances are boring and she lacks "the inner flower". He is also really self confident and says that he has the skills, the convictions, and the power to achieve anything. He also seems to be competing with Ritsu Kisaragi.
History[]
Chiaki has been playing the violin since his childhood. He later stopped using the classical violin to perform in concurs and switched to the electric violin.
Two years ago, Chiaki and Ritsu Kisaragi were the competing finalists in the solo division at a national competition. Ritsu won the event, but there was a judge who gave Chiaki's performance a score of zero that was Genichi Tougane (Chiaki's father) and Chiaki wants his father to approve his music in a rematch against Ritsu.
However, when Jinnan High School went up against Seiso Academy in the semi-finals, Chiaki gave his best performance which brought about a change in his father's way of thinking, thus finally giving Chiaki the sort of acknowledgement he had always wanted, even after having lost to Seiso.
Etymology[]
- The name Chiaki means "thousand" (千) (chi) and "autumn" (秋) (aki).
- Chiaki's surname Tougane means "east" (東) (tou) and "money" (金) (kane/gane).
